MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
As a parent you know that choosing a school for your child is one of the most significant decisions you face. We all hope to provide for our children an educational foundation from which they can reach out for their goals and fulfil their potential. However, this first involves a choice – your choice – as to what type of education is going to be the best for your child, and at which school.
This website has been prepared to help you make this choice. We hope that it will give you a greater understanding of the education principles and aims of a Montessori school and help you to make your choice with confidence.
Sutherland Shire Montessori School offers each child an opportunity to develop independence, self-confidence and self-esteem. The unique programme, centred on the child, encourages the development of personal responsibility, thinking processes and fosters a love of learning. The child is guided in the exploration of his or her own learning styles and in the development of work patterns most suited to individual needs.
After you have browsed this website we hope you wish to explore the advantages this school may offer your child. You are cordially invited to arrange an observation of the working classrooms along with a tour of the school. Details are available from the school office.
Due to the nature of the programme and the demand in the Sutherland Shire, we do recommend that you place your child on the waitlist as early as possible before the age of two. Priority is usually given to siblings of current attendees, transfers from other Montessori schools and children who will attend the full three-year pre-primary programme, followed by the primary programme. Remaining places are allocated in order of waiting list application date.
If you wish to place your child on the waitlist, you should forward the completed waitlist application form(s) with the appropriate fees. Please note that the waitlist fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee a place for your child at the school.
